Thomas R. Glisson- (a summary) Born in Hamilton Co. Ohio, 29 Jan 1815 and is the son of Thomas Glisson who was born in Pennsylvania in the town of Carlise and who was a cabinetmaker. Removing to Hamilton Co. Ohio when but a young man, he there married Miss Rebecca Runyan a native of New Jersey and who was the daughter of Benjamin Runyan. In 1817 he removed to Indiana and settled near Brookville (note: Brookville in Franklin Co. Ind.). He worked a saw mill till 1828 and in December he sold out and returned to Hamilton Co. Ohio, and labored at cabinet making until his death in 1849, having survived his wife who died in 1843. They were the parents of 10 children, 6 boys and 4 girls. One son O.S. Glisson is a Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy. The subject of this sketch Thomas Runyan Glisson was the 4th son and learned cabinet making from his father and at 23 learned the coopers trade. This he followed until 1854 in Hamilton Co. when he concluded to go west. He purchased 180 acres of improved prarie land on Sec 26 Knox Twp., Knox Co. Illinois and 40 acres of timberland on Sec 12 in Knox Twp. He married Miss Mary Edwards in Oct of 1838 who was born in the city of Philadelphia on 30 Aug 1819, and was the daughter of William Edwards & Ann Outterbridge both natives of Maryland. Thomas R. and Mary had 9 children, 2 of whom are deceased and 7 living as follows: Elizabeth wife of James Reddick, who lives in Hancock Co. Ohio, Abbie who wedded James Hadley and lives in Yolo Co. California, Nellie, Sarah, Charles, Pameli, and Harriet. Charles is married and carrying on the home farm. The 4 younger daughters reside at home. Only son Charles was born 19 Oct 1853 in Hamilton Co. Ohio. He married Miss Emma dau of Alexander McPherson & Ellen Curl. Emma was born in Knox Co. Charles & Emma currently have one child Oliver Glisson.

Ref: From a letter I received dated 30 Dec 1980 from Guinn B. Glisson age 83-
Guinn B. Glisson stated that his grandfather was Isaac Guinn Glisson who was born in Wales, January 23, 1801 and died March 10, 1867 in Savanna, Illinois. According to the story his aunt Elizabeth told him when he was 15 years old. His grandfather heard about America- heard of a ship over and left England in 1819. None of his family was with him. He settled in Knoxville, TN married unknown first wife and had 13 children. After his children were raised and his wife died he moved to Illinois and bought a farm and remarried a widow with 5 children. One child was born of this marriage, Isaac Henry Glisson in 1864. Isaac Henry was Guinn's father. Guinn had a brother Levi.
(note: I have found nothing on this Isaac Guinn Glisson in the TN records. The closes fit is Isaac Glisson listed in will of Henry Glisson in Robertson Co. TN. I think I found his 2nd wife Mary J. I have found his son Isaac Henry Glisson and wife Lenora Schadle in 1900 & 1910 IL census. Lenora dau of Levi Schadle. I found Guinn B. and his brother Levi living with their aunt Elizabeth Schadle. Which raises questions about the above. She obviously aunt on mothers side not fathers. Thus how would she know about Guinns grandfather. I wonder if she was talking about his grandfather Levi Schadle and not Isaac Quinn Glisson being from Wales. ) Isaac G. Glisson bought land in Knox Co. Illinois in 1844, listed in 1850 Jo Daviess Co. IL as Isaac Gleason and listed in 1860 census Carroll Co. as Isaac Gleason and died in 1867 when his son Isaac Henry or Henry Isaac Glisson was just 3 year old.  Henry Isaac Glisson lived with Levi & Elizabeth Shadle in 1870 census in Carroll Co. IL (his future brother and sister in law).  Could not find Henry Isaac listed in 1880 census.  He was listed as Henry Gleason with wife Lenora & sons Gwinn & Levi in 1900 census.  He was listed as Henry Glisson with sons Guinn & Levi in 1910 census wife died 1900-1910.  Not listed in 1920 census.  Guinn & Levi lived with aunt Elizabeth Shadle in 1920. )

Thomas Runyan Glisson b. 1815 d. 1901 m. 1838 in Hamilton Co. OH to Mary Ann Edwards. Came to Illinois in 1854. Son of Thomas Glisson & Rebecca Runyan of Hamilton Co. OH. Children : Elizabeth Ann, Abigail, Nellie, Catherine, Mary, Sarah E., Charles R., Effie Pamela, & Harriett.

Isaac Quinn Glisson b. 1801 Wales d. 1867 m. (1) to ? (2) to Mary J. ?. Issue: by 1st wife 13 children, issue by 2nd wife Isaac Henry Glisson b. 1864.

Thomas Glisson b.1876, Walter Glisson b. 1885 and Erwin Glisson b. 1896 who were listed in 1920 Williamson Co. IL were probably brothers. No other info on them at this time unknown parents.
